The country life?
We're seriously wondering about moving out to the countryside. There are some amazingly beautiful houses that get affordable once you're outside of Prague. Prague prices are ludicrous and fairly obviously in "bubble" mode - you can pay way more than $million for something quite modest in a nice but not amazing area here - "it'll all end in tears" as my grandmother would say.
But once you hit the countryside it suddenly becomes a lot less expensive and I've seen what might just be my dream house. Really, really beautiful with loads of well-lit, gorgeous room for a studio (beams, beams and yet more beams - and fireplaces). And we could afford it, at a pinch. BUT it's 45 minutes from Prague. Hmmm. I wonder if I would just get terribly lonely and bored? But then again, I'd have a garden. Hmmm again.
Lots to think about. Half of me thinks that with all the weirdness in the world economy, a farmhouse with a fishing lake (it has one, though shared with neighbours, then again, how much carp and trout can one person eat?) and a good acre of decent land is not a bad idea. Lots of woodland around too for logs.
I don't know if I'm being sensible or silly.
