Mintd - beware! A rant about dreadful tech and customer service
I just deleted my Mintd shop (http://www.mintd.com ). I have been almost stupidly patient and polite with them for two months over the fact that they can't get my shop to work - it will not show any international shipping charges - and I've lost at least one buyer in the process. It makes us look bad if people try to buy and the shop says we don't ship outside Czech Republic - ouch!
I have edited the shipping on my items there about 50 times (and yes, I do know how to do it, and I have tried both batch editing and individual at Mintd's suggestion) - every time it reverts to "no international shipping" and one of two different error screens comes up - very time-consuming. I took shots of the error screens that come up and sent them to Mintd when all this began two months ago and they said that yes, there was a software error and they would try to fix it. Fair enough. Many weeks then went by during which I had only two emails, purely when I enquired and tried to nudge it...
Then this morning I got an email that was almost funny it was so offensive (last one I had was on the 17th which said a tech person would be in contact direct - hmm, I am still waiting). It implied I was lying about the whole thing - though in an earlier email they confirmed the bug. Odd way to deal with an ongoing problem - if you can't fix it, pretend it's not happening and blame the customer? And the error screens were? Hmm, I guess I faked those too? And was trying to sabotage my own shop by making it impossible for anyone to buy? Spooky, spooky stuff.
Just sad and slightly pathetic. I found it vaguely depressing and it left me wishing I had nothing to do with the site (hence I removed my shop). It COULD be a great shopping site, but it's all over the place and their "CR" dept appears to be a couple of friends who haven't a clue how to deal with a bug report and think that abusing the customer might make it all go away.
As for their tech dept - just don't get me started!
So, if you are thinking of buying or selling on Mintd my advice would be don't - at least not for now and at least not until they can get the site working and have some trained customer support. Shame, as it looked like it had potential at first.
